NoOn 18 March 2009, the Government of Argentina announced a tariff reduction on extra-zone (i.e. outside MERCOSUR) imports of 200 environmentally-friendly vehicles, from 35% to 2% ad valorem. The measure is aimed at discouraging the use of fossil fuels in the country.
Two hundred units of hybrids and electrical vehicles, all manufactured by Toyota, were benefited by the tariff reduction.
