On 11 July 2016, the Brazilian authorities initiated an antidumping investigation on imports of specific high carbon steel from China (Circular No. 40, 08/07/2016). The product subject to investigation is classified under HS codes subheadings: 7217.10.19 and 7217.10.90. The complaint was lodged by Belgo Bekaert Arames Ltda.
On 28 November 2016, the Brazilian authorities imposed a provisional antidumping duty on imports of the subject good from China (Resolution No. 119 of 2016). The rate of the duty is USD 199.19 or 505.56 per tonne depending on the company. The duty is in force for a period of 6 months.
On 7 July 2017, the Brazilian authorities imposed a definitive antidumping duty on imports of the subject good from China (Resolution No. 44 of 2017). The rate of the duty is USD 124.33 or 563.77 per tonne depending on the company. The duty is in force for a period of five years.
