On 12 April 2016, the German Eximbank KfW announced in a press release that it would cofinance a loan of 3.5 billion EUR for the construction of three Egyptian combined cycle power plants.
According to the press release, the "core component of each of the natural gas-fired combined cycle power plants" shall be eight Siemens gas turbines. The projects shall increase Egypt's electricity production by 50% when they open in 2018.

On this metric, this trade finance affects the conditions of competition and foreign firms competing in the overseas market in question.
