ANNOUNCED AS TEMPORARYNo
The government on Argentina via Decree 2229/2015 reintroduced for 5 years a rebate for exports from ports in the geographical region of Patagonia. Only goods produced in the region are eligible for this rebate.
The applicable export rebate ranges between 8% and 13% of the "free on board" (FOB) value, depending on the shipment port in Patagonia.
In order to be a recipient of this rebate, the exporters are required to prove the origin of the product to be exported by presenting a certificate of origin. Beside local produce, also products of the sea caught by Argentine or Argentine-flagged vessels qualify for the rebate.
The described rebate is in force from 11 November 2015 until the end of 2020. The original export rebate expired in 2011 after being in force since 1984.
Livestock, tourism and energy (primarily oil, gas and coal) represent the three core sectors of the overall economy of Patagonia.
