No On 25 June 2014, according to the 2014 subsidy report of the Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK), the European Commission approved regional state aid worth 62.5 million PLN (ca. 14 million EUR) to Volkswagen Poznan Sp. z.o.o.
The state aid register of the EC does not provide any information on this state aid but according to UOKiK's report, this was the largest amount of state aid distributed by the Economic Ministry to a single company in that year.
There is no information on what the state aid will be used but the financing coincides with the start of construction of a Volkswagen manufacturing plant in the region (cf. Sources). Production is set to begin in the second half of 2016.
A state measure in the GTA database is assessed solely in terms of the extent to which its implementation affects the extent of discrimination against foreign commercial interests. On this metric, the state aid proposed here is discriminatory.
