Tax or social insurance relief
On June 16, 2016 the board of California Competes approved $10 million in tax credits for an electric vehicle company that promises to add more than 900 jobs in the cities of San Jose and San Francisco. The credits will all be awarded in the 2020 tax year. NextEV said that the company plans to begin selling its first commercial vehicles in China in 2017. The California jobs will be in research and development, many in engineering, but the company has not yet decided where to base the actual production of the vehicles.
