On 18 January 2012, the government of Guatemala published Government Agreement 32-2012 (in Spanish: Acuerdo Gubernativo 32-2012). Amongst the key changes introduced by this Government Agreement are (for the first time) the establishment of an export quota system for waste and scrap metal and other minerals, which will be managed via the issuance of export licenses.
