NoOn 12 April 2016, the Indian Directorate General of Anti-dumping & Allied Duties, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, initiated an anti-subsidy investigation on imports of certain hot-rolled and cold-rolled stainless steel flat products originating in China. The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS codes: 7219 and 7220. This investigation follows the application lodged by Jindal Stainless Limited and Jindal Stainless (Hisar) Limited on behalf of the domestic industry.
On 7 September 2017, the Indian Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue imposed a definitive countervailing duty on imports of the subject good from China. The rate of duty is 18.95% of the landed value. The duty is in force for a period of five years.
On 1 February 2021, the Indian authorities issued Notification No. 02/2021-CUSTOMS (CVD) temporarily suspending the definitive countervailing duty imposed on certain hot-rolled and cold-rolled stainless steel flat products originating in China. The duty is suspended from 2 February 2021 until 31 January 2022.
On 8 October 2021, the Indian authorities initiated a sunset review of the definitive duty imposed on imports of the subject good from China. This follows the application lodged by Jindal Stainless Limited and Jindal Stainless (Hisar) Limited. The investigation is still in progress.
