NoOn 5 May 2016, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Council (Camex) issued Resolution No. 43 introducing temporary tariff-rate quotas on three products.
The import tariff was reduced on palm kernel oil from 10% to 2% limited to a quota of 224,785 tonne and certain x-ray films, primed on both sides, from 10% to 2% limited to a quota of 1,000 tonnes. The subject goods fall under the Mercosur Common Nomenclature (NCM) 1513.29.10 and 3702.10.20 respectively. This measure enters into force on 6 May 2016 for a period of 12 months.
Additionally, the import tariff was reduced on anhydrous from 10% to 2% limited to a quota of 455,000 tonnes. The subject good falls under NCM 2833.11.10. This measure enters into force on 28 June 2016 for a period of 6 months.
Affected trade partners are identified based on the UN Comtrade's import data from 2014.
Update
On May 10, 2017, the Brazilian Secretariat of Foreign Trade issued Resolution no. 19 extending the reduced tariff-rate quota on palm kernel oil (NCM 1513.29.10) for another twelve months.
On April 24, 2018, the CAMEX issued Resolution 27 extending for another twelve months the reduced tariff-rate quota on palm kernel oil (NCM 1513.29.10).
