ANNOUNCED AS TEMPORARYNo
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced a reclassification ruling in the May 6, 2015 edition of Customs Bulletin and Decisions that resulted in a significant lowering of the tariff applicable to a certain chemical product. Bergazid OA-4000, a mixture of several fatty acids that is used chiefly for food ingredients, cosmetics, cleaners and certain technical applications, had previously been classified under HTSUS subheading 3824.90.41 and subject to a 4.6% duty, but CBP has ruled that they may be reclassified under HTSUS subheading 3823.19.20 and thus subject to a 2.3% duty. India, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Netherlands are the principal suppliers of this product.
