On 4 September 2015, the European Investment Bank announced in a press release that it had provided a 280 million GBP loan for the research and development of Rolls-Royce aero engines.
The engines are developed for a larger version of the recently released Airbus A350 XWB-1000, which is planned to become operational in 2017.
