On 1 October 2015, the Egyptian authorities initiated an anti-dumping investigation on imports of coated electrodes of base metal for electric arc-welding (welding wires) from China and Turkey. The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS code subheading: 8311.10.
 
On 5 October 2016, the Egyptian authorities imposed a definitive duty on imports of the subject good from China. The rate of duty is between 30% and 41% of CIF value.

On 29 December 2020, the Egyptian authorities initiated a sunset review of the definitive antidumping duty imposed on imports of coated electrodes of base metal for electric arc-welding (welding wires) from China and Turkey.

On 4 October 2021, the Egyptian authorities issued a regulation extending the definitive duty imposed on imports of coated electrodes of base metal for electric arc-welding from China and Turkey following the conclusion of the sunset review. The rate of the duty ranges from 30% to 41% depending on the company.
