State loan

On 10 March 2016, the European Commission approved a 32.1 million subsidy for the Finnish Metsä Fibre Oy bio-product mill in Äänekoski. The funds will be used to construct a new bio-product pulp mill that will replace the old factory in the same location.
Previously, the project received 75 million in financing from the European Fund for Strategic Investments (cf. Related Measures).
A state measure in the GTA database is assessed solely in terms of the extent to which its implementation affects the extent of discrimination against foreign commercial interests. On this metric, the state aid proposed here is discriminatory.
