On 17 March 2016, the Indian Ministry of Steel extended the deadline for compliance with Indian standards for designated steel products ("Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) (Amendment) Order, 2016").
In December 2015, the "Quality Control Order" required that all listed steel products manufactured or sold in India must have certification from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and were required to comply with the rules by 18 March 2016.
The date of coming into force has been extended by 6 months i.e. 18 September 2016 mainly for auto-grade steel imports.
In a Second Amendment to the Quality Control Order, the deadline was extended for additional products of certain grade designations, from March 2016 to 18 December 2016 (please see the amendment link below).
