On 27 November 2015, the Commission on Distortions of Chile initiated an anti-dumping investigation on imports of steel bars for concrete from DeAcero S.A. in Mexico.
The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS codes: 7213.10.00, 7214.20.00, 7227.90.00 and 7228.30.00.
The request was lodged by Compañía Siderúrgica Huachipato S.A. (CAP Acero) and Gerdua AZA S.A.
On 19 May 2016, the Chilean authorities imposed a provisional duty on the above products from Mexico. The rate of duty is 13.1% and is in force for a period not exceeding four months.
On 20 September 2016, the Chilean authorities amended the above provisional duty on the subject good from Mexico. The rate of duty is amended to 11.01% and is in force for a period of two months.
On 17 November 2016, the Chilean authorities imposed a definitive duty on imports of the subject good from Mexico. The rate of duty is 9.8. The duty is in force for one year.
On 17 November 2017, the Chilean authorities terminated the definitive duty as the duty was set to expire.
