ANNOUNCED AS TEMPORARYNo
Public procurement preference margin
On 3 November 2015, the UK government announced in a press release that it had sent out a Procurement Policy Notice on steel to all government departments informing them of updated selection criteria.
These will allow to take into account such factors as social impact, job impact and staff security. According to the press release, the criterias were updated "so that the true value of UK steel can be taken into account".
Furthermore, the notice says that "This note on purchasing steel applies to all central government departments, including their executive agencies and non-departmental public bodies. All other contracting authorities in the wider public sector are strongly encouraged to adopt this approach".
