NoOn 23 December 2015, the Commissioner of the Australian Anti-Dumping Commission initiated an anti-subsidy investigation on imports of hot-rolled deformed steel reinforcing bar, whether or not in coil form, commonly identified as rebar or debar, in various diameters up to and including 50 mm, containing indentations, ribs, grooves or other deformations produced during the rolling process, from China (Anti-dumping Notice No. 2015/152, 23.12.2015). The investigation will consider the period of the already conducted anti-dumping investigation (see related measure) to conclude if subsidisation has occurred.
The products subject to investigation are classified under HS codes: 7214.20.00, 7228.30.90, 7213.10.00, 7227.90.90, 7227.90.10, 7228.30.10 and 7228.60.10. The complaint was lodged on 23 November 2015 by OneSteel Manufacturing Pty Ltd.
On 19 October 2016, the Australian authorities terminated the above investigation without the imposition of duties. No duties were imposed as a clear link between injury and subsidisation could not be determined.
