On 11 January 2016, the Brazilian authorities initiated an anti-dumping investigation on imports of tempered and laminated automotive glass from China (Circular No. 1, 08.01.2015).
The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS codes: 7007.11.00, 7007.19.00, 7007.21.00, 7007.29.00 and 8708.29.99. Certain products falling under these HS codes are excluded. Further information can be found under section 3.1 and 6.1 of the Circular. The complaint was lodged on 29 October 2015 by the Brazilian Glass Automatic Industry Technical Association (Associação Técnica Brasileira das Indústrias Automáticas de Vidros - ABIVIDRO) on behalf of Saint Gobain do Brasil Produtos Industriais e para Construção Ltda. and Pilkington Brasil Ltda.
A similar anti-dumping investigation was initiated earlier in June 2015. However the investigation was terminated without imposition of duties. For more details please see related measure.
On 24 June 2016, the Brazilian authorities imposed a provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of the above-mentioned products from China (Resolution No. 52, 23/06/2016). The rate of the duty imposed on imports from China is between USD 310.33 and 2485.22 per tonne depending on the company. The duty is in force for a period of 6 months.
On 28 November 2016, he Brazilian authorities extended the above provisional duty for an additional period of three months.
On 17 February 2017, the Brazilian authorities imposed a definitive duty on imports of the subject good from China (Camex Resolution No. 5 of 2017). The rate of duty is between USD 575.15 and 2761.35 per tonne depending on the company. The duty is in force for a period of five years.
