On 7 September 2011, the Ministry of Commerce & Industry increased the Minimum Export Price on all onions except Bangalore rose and Krishnapuram onions from USD 300 per metric ton to USD 475 per metric ton and on Bangalore rose and Krishnapuram onions from USD 400 to USD 475 per metric ton.
The export of onions was banned from 9 September 2011, which was withdrawn on 20 September 2011 but the MEP was maintained at USD 475 per metric ton.
