Anti-dumping

On 21 December 2015, the Brazilian authorities initiated an anti-dumping investigation on imports of steel flat bars; hot rolled, drawn or extruded with a specific thickness and width, from China (Circular No. 82, 18.12.2015). The products subject to investigation are classified under HS code 7228.30.00. The following goods are excluded from the scope of the investigation: non-flat shape bars and specific productbars, although with a flat shape, noted under 1.2 of the Circular. The complaint was lodged on 29 October 2015 by Gerdau Special Steel SA.

On 8 June 2016, the Brazilian authorities announced the negative conclusion of a preliminary determination of dumping on above products from China. Thus no preliminary duties are applied.

On 28 November 2016, the Brazilian authorities imposed a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of the subject good from China (Camex Resolution No. 120 of 2016). The rate of duty is USD 495.73 per tonne. The duty is in force for a period of five years.
