On February 12, 2016 a coalition of four companies (AK Steel Corporation, Allegheny Ludium, LLC, North American Stainless, and Outokumpu Stainless USA LLC) filed a petition seeking anti-dumping and countervailing duties on stainless steel sheet and strip from China. The U.S. International Trade Commission reached an affirmative decision in it preliminary injury determination on March 25, 2016.
On July 12, 2016, the Department of Commerce announced its affirmative preliminary determination in the countervailing duty investigation; on September 12, 2016 it announced an affirmative preliminary determination in the anti-dumping investigation.
On February 2, 2017, the Department of Commerce announced its affirmative final determinations in the anti-dumping duty and countervailing duty investigations of imports of stainless steel sheet and strip from China.
On March 3, 2017 the U.S. International Trade Commission determined that a U.S. industry is materially injured by reason of imports of stainless steel sheet and strip from China. As a result of the USITC's affirmative determinations, Commerce will issue anti-dumping and countervailing duty orders on imports of this product from China.
