NoOn 8 January 2016 the Brazilian Foreign Trade Council (Camex) issued Resolution No. 1 introducing or prolonging tariff-rate quotas on eight products under the Mercosur Common Nomenclature (NCM).
The introduction of four products under the following tariff-rate quotas entered into force on 11 January 2016 for a period of 12 months:
Additionally the tariff-rate quota on aluminium sheets and plates (NCM 7606.12.90) was extended until 30 January 2017. Whilst the tariff rate remains the same, the quota is increased from 2000 tonnes to 2,937 tonnes. Three other products' tariff-rate quotas were also temporarily extended (see related measures).
Affected trade partners are identified based on the UN Comtrade's import data from 2014.
Update
On January 23, 2017, Camex issued Resolution No. 1 extending the tariff-rate quota for another twelve months starting on February 1, 2017. The import duty and quota remains the same. See related measure.
