Import tariff

On 26 March 2015, Sri Lanka increased the Special Commodity Levy on rice imports from Rs. 20 per kg. to Rs. 40 per kg. Extraordinary Gazette No.1907/19 was published in this regard, and will be valid for 4 months.
 
On 6 May 2015, the SCL on rice imports was replaced with an import duty (see related measure).
 
The Special Commodity Levy is a composite duty on the product and no other tax, duty, cess etc. is applicable on the said product while the levy is valid.
