NoOn 15 February 2015, Sri Lanka increased the Special Commodity Levy (SCL) on import of potatoes from Rs. 10 per kg. to Rs. 40 per kg. Also the SCL on mackerel fish, which was fixed at Rs. 10 per kg. on 18 July 2014, was extended for another 4 months.
The SCL on potatoes was later increased to Rs. 55 per kg on 24 April 2015 and that on mackerel fish was decreased to Rs. 6 per kg on 18 March 2015 (see related measures).
The Special Commodity Levy is a composite duty on the product and no other tax, duty, cess etc. is applicable on the said product while the levy is valid.
