Import tariff

On 10 July 2009, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) issued Notice no. 725 exempting the import tariff on pigments and hydrogen peroxide.

The duty reduction was introduced after a review of the tariff dispensation on products used in the manufacture of clothing.

However, the government did not change the tariff schedule, but instead introduced rebate provisions of full duty under the following classifications:

  • 311.01/28.47/01.04
  • 311.01/3204.17/01.06
  • 311.01/3206.11/01.06
  • 311.01/3206.20/01.06

Affected trading partners
The GTA retrieves its data on affected trading partners from UN Comtrade. However, for the year 2008, the database was not able to provide the affected trading partners for Botswana, Swaziland, and Lesotho.
