NoOn March 27th, 2015, the Pakistani National Tariff Commission initiated an anti-dumping investigation on imports of sorbitol from India (Notice ADC No. 32/2015/NTC/SB, Initiation).
The product subject to investigation is classified under the following HS codes: 2905.4400 and 3824.6000.
This investigation follows the application lodged on February 12th, 2015 by Habib-ADM Limited, Karachi, a domestic producer of the subject good.
On August 25th, 2015, the Pakistani National Tariff Commission issued its preliminary findings and decided upon the imposition of a provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of sorbitol originating in India (Notice ADC No. 32/2015/NTC/SB, Preliminary Determination). The rate of the duty is 16.97% of the CIF value. This provisional measure entered into force on August 25th, 2015 and is applicable for a period of four months.
On 23 December 2015, the Pakistani National Tariff Commission imposed a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of the subject good from India. The rate of the duty is 16.97% of the CIF value. The duty is retrospectively in force from 25 August 2015 for a period of five years.
On 22 August 2020, the Pakistani authorities announced the initiation of a sunset review of the definitive duty imposed on imports of the subject good from India.
On 21 August 2021, the Pakistani authorities issued a notice extending the definitive duty imposed on imports of sorbitol 70% solution from India following the conclusion of the sunset review. The rate of duty is 16.97%. The measure is extended for a period of 5 years with effect from 25 August 2020.
