Import tariff

On 14 August 2009, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) reduced the import duty on certain electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof to free. Affected are goods classified under HS 8506 and HS 8516.
 
The corresponding recommendation report no. 296 by the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa (ITAC) was not available online. ITAC reports lay out deliberations and include the previous tariffs.
 
Affected trading partners
The GTA retrieves its data on affected trading partners from UN Comtrade. However, for the year 2008, the database was not available to provide the affected trading partners for Botswana, Swaziland, and Lesotho.
