Export tax

On 9 September 2012, the Egyptian official gazette published Ministerial decree no. 696 amending export duty on several kinds of metal ore and scrap (ex. copper, lead, ferrous waste, aluminum waste and zinc) for one year starting 14/09/2012. 

As per the Decree, the export duty level will be as follows: 

-  For copper, semi-copper, copper and nonferrous copper and copper electrodes for electrolysis, pure copper and copper alloys in forms of ore, scrap, scrap of copper and other articles of cast iron, molded, stamped or malleable (HS 7401, 7402, 7403, 7404, 741991) is 8000 EGP (10,253.78 USD) per tonne. 

- Lead in raw forms, scrap and waste (HS 7801, 7802, 780419, 7806) is 3000 EGP (3,845.17 USD) per tonne. 

- Scrap and wastes of cast iron, tin foil, scrap and waste from chips, shrapnel and scrap of milling, turning, sawing, scraping, cut-off and scraping operations, whether or not in packings and other scraps of waste and alloys resulting from iron scrap (HS 720410, 720430, 720441, 720449, 720450) is 650 EGP (833.12 USD) per tonne. 

- Scrap and wastes from stainless steel alloys and steel alloy scrap, and other alloys scrap (HS 720421, 720429, 720430, 720450) is 750 EGP (961.29 USD) per tonne. 

- Aluminum scrap and wastes (HS 7602) is 2500 EGP (3,204.31 USD) per tonne. 

On 18 September 2013, the Egyptian official gazette published Ministerial decree no. 612 extending the export duty on all items without change for one year starting 14/9/2013. 

On 10 March 2013, the Egyptian official gazette published Ministerial decree no. 123 adding an export duty on some extra lead items, see related state act. 
 
On 9 September 2014, the Egyptian official gazette published Ministerial decree no. 671 increasing the duty level on copper ore and scrap, imposing an export duty on zinc scrap, and extending the duty level on the rest of the above items without change for one year, see the related state act. 

On 25 August 2015, the Egyptian official gazette published decree no. 608 extending the export duty on all items for one year starting 14/9/2015. 

On 29 August 2016, the Egyptian official gazette published decree no. 770 extending the export duty on some items (HS 7401, 7402, 7403, 7404, 741991, 7801, 7802, 780419, 7806, 720410, 720430, 720441, 720449, 720450, 7602) as well as adding and amending export duty for the rest of the items for one year starting 14/9/2016, see related state act.
