On September 11th, 2014, the Indian Directorate General of Anti-dumping & Allied Duties, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, initiated an anti-dumping investigation on imports of albendazole, chemical name being methyl (5-propylsulfanyl-3H-benzoimidazol-2-yl) aminoformate, from China.
The product subject to investigation is classified under the following HS code: 2933.2950. It has been claimed by the petitioner that subject goods are also being imported under the following HS codes: 2309.9090, 2933.1100, 2933.2990, 2933.5990, 2933.9090 and 2941.9090.
This investigation follows the application lodged by M/s Sequent Scientific Ltd., a domestic producer of the subject good.
On 5 November 2015, the Indian Directorate General of anti-dumping & allied duties, Ministry of Commerce, issued its final findings and recommended the imposition of a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of albendazole originating in or exported from China.
On 14 December 2015, the Indian Ministry of Finance issued the Customs Notification imposing this definitive anti-dumping duty (Notification No. 62/2015-Customs (ADD), 14.12.2015). The amount of the duty imposed on imports originating in or exported from China is USD 9.31 or USD 10.02 per kg depending on the company. This definitive duty is effective for a period of five years.
