NoOn 7 March 2012, the Ministry of Finance exempted imports of all pulses from import duties.
The original regulation foresaw the exemption to last until March 2013. However, various interventions in the meantime were extended the duty-free treatment of these products until 1 January 2016 and were later extended indefinitely through a notification on 30 December 2015.
On 28 March 2017, an import duty of 10% was imposed on Tur dal (pigeon pea). On 8 November 2017, an import duty of 50% was imposed on imports of Peas. On 21 December 2017, an import duty of 30% was imposed on Chickpeas and Masoor (lentils).
