ANNOUNCED AS TEMPORARYNo
Import licensing requirement
On 27 March 2015, Norway amended its International Ship Registration regulation 596/1993 allowing cruise ships registered in the International Ship Register (henceforth: ISR) to also travel between Norwegian ports. Previously, passenger ships registered under the ISR were allowed to dock only in one Norwegian port, in order not to compete with the ships registered under the Norwegian Ordinary Ships Register.
Nevertheless, the cruise ship registered under ISR will have to dock in at least two foreign ports before or after travelling to the Norwegian ones and the passenger will not be allowed to buy tickets solely between Norwegian ports.
The amendment came into force on the day of its announcement.
