Tax or social insurance relief
The governor of Michigan signed into law on December 24, 2014 a bill (SB1103) renewing and amending a film-production subsidy program that was originally scheduled to expire in 2017. The original subsidy law, which operates via tax credits, had been enacted in 2008. The law makes the subsidies contingent upon the hiring of local persons.
