On 17 December 2014, Draft Bill 679523-6 was registered for discussion at the State Duma, the Lower House of the Russian Parliament.
Its author, Mr Oleg Nilov, has proposed to amend federal law in a way that ensures that at least 50% of the products on offer in retail chains must be made in Russia.
In the Russian Federation laws must be approved on three readings by the State Duma, subsequently approved by the Council of the Federation, the Upper House of the Russian Parliament, and finally by the Russian President.
