Since 1 April 2014, the government of Brazil enforces the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). The Convention standardizes regulations for for im- and exports of commercial contracts. Consumer contracts are beyond the CISG. For all contracts that fulfil the CISG criteria, the Convention replaces the Brazilian Civil Code of 2002.
Brazil had ratified the convention on 4 March 2013.
