In a Federal Register notices (Volume 79, Number 153) published on August 8, 2014 U.S. Customs and Border Protection(CBP) issued a final rule amending its regulations to add a preclearance location inAbu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. CBP Preclearance operations in AbuDhabi, United Arab Emirates officially began on January 24, 2014,pursuant to an agreement between the Governments of the United Statesand the United Arab Emirates. CBP Officers at preclearance locationsconduct inspections and examinations to ensure compliance with U.S.customs, immigration, and agriculture laws, as well as other lawsenforced by CBP at the U.S. border. Such inspections and examinationsprior to arrival in the United States generally enable travelers toexit the domestic terminal or connect directly to a U.S. domesticflight without undergoing further CBP processing.
