NoOn February 16, 2014, the Arab Times reported that the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour (MOSAL) had recently adoptedmore stringent regulations on granting firms permits to hire foreign workers. The new rules are to enter into force on April 1st, 2014.
There will be a 90-day probation period before a work permit is issued, and workers are required to present police clearance and medical certificates before entering Kuwait. Moreover, the government will take a tougher stance against companies abusing workers' rights.
Since MOSAL's website (even the Arabic version) was last updated in 2008, the official document is not available. Nonetheless, several media have reported this story making consistent claims about the actions of the Kuwaiti government.
