On March 6, 2013, the Ports Regulator of South Africa decided to lower the cargo dues on containers destined for export by 43.2% and on inbound containers by 14.3%. In addition, the cargo dues on motor vehicles exported on their own wheels has been reduced by 21.1%. The changes are valid for the tariff year 2013/14, running from April 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014.
For this measure, South Africa's ten largest import and export partners have been listed as the affected trading partners - except for neighbouring countries, where most trade takes place via land transport. Smaller trading partners may, however, be affected as well.
