The legislature of the state of New Jersey adopted, and Governor Christie signed into law on January 22, 2014, a bill (S2747/A4170) requiring the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to eliminate its current cargo facility fee. The requirement will come into effect only after New York adopts similar legislation. A similar bill is pending in the New York legislature.
