On 8 May 2013, Bolivia's National Assembly adopted Law No. 370 restricting entry into Bolivia for foreign nationals. Erika Claure, President of Bolivia's International Policy Commission of the Lower House said that the aim of this law was to be 'not very flexible and not very docile' ('ni muy flexibles ni muy dóciles') with foreigners entering the country. For example, the new bill allows Bolivia to retaliate against foreign nationals living in Bolivia whose countries of origin enact restrictions upon Bolivian nationals. Further, Bolivia also restricts entry for tourists who cannot prove their financial viability and forbids entry for foreign nationals with criminal record. This measure enters into force as of the date of its publication in the Official Gazette, on 8 May 2013.
