On 12 October 2011, Mexico's president signed Decree DOF 12/10/2011 extending the flat tax (Impuesto Empresarial a Tasa Única) IETU of 17.5 per cent, which is applied on maquiladoras' income tax for another two years; until end of 2013. Thus, maquiladoras benefit from a significant tax credit to their income tax burden.
Maquiladoras are export-oriented companies benefiting from the Decree for the Promotion of the Manufacturing, Maquila and Export Service Industry (IMMEX Decree).
