On 14 January 2011, the Mexican government published a decree establishing the single-window system (Ventanilla Digital Mexicana de Comercio Exterior or Ventanilla Única), effective as of 1 June 2012. Mexico's new electronic foreign trade platform allows foreign trade operators to file electronically all foreign trade information required by the Mexican authorities. The Ventanilla Única aims to automate and standardise customs processing, thus allowing importers and exporters to benefit from faster customs clearance and reduced customs costs.
