Import-related non-tariff measure, nes
According to Ernst & Young's Trade Watch report of December 2012, the CEMAC (Communauté Economique et Monétaire de l'Afrique Centrale), which is constituted of Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea and Gabon is devoting more resources on post-importation controls in order to verify the information contained in the customs declaration in accordance with CEMAC's Customs Code. The implications of customs non-compliance can be severe considering that the information declared to the customs authorities can be scrutinized years after the goods have been imported. This change is likely to raise barriers to imports.
