ANNOUNCED AS TEMPORARYNo
Labour market access
On 8 April 2011 the Korean government announced measures to facilitate job search and training by immigrant spouses. Throughout April 2011 such immigrants would be eligible for vocational training and access to subsidised jobs in "social enterprises."
The number of immigrant spouses in Korea is reported to exceed 180,000, up nearly 40,000 since 2008. Concerns have been expressed that unfamiliarity with the Korean language has frustrated job search by such immigrants.
