ANNOUNCED AS TEMPORARYNo
Labour market access
As of 1 February 2011, Citizenship and Immigration Canada raised minimum salary requirements for IT professionals who seek to work in British Columbia or Quebec by 25 percent or more depending on the exact occupation.
The CIC thereby undercuts the efforts by the two regions to attract foreign IT professionals through an extension of the Labor Market Opinion exemption. The two regions had received a waiver when the exemption was abolished on the national level in October 2010 (see related measure).
