NoOn May 7th, 2015, the Indian Directorate General of anti-dumping & allied duties, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, initiated an anti-dumping investigation on imports of plain medium density fibre board (having thickness of 6mm and above) from Indonesia. Additionally, an investigation was initiated on imports of the subject good from Vietnam. The product subject to investigation is classified under the following HS code subheading: 4411. This follows the application lodged by M/s Greenply Industries Ltd. and M/s Mangalam Timber Products Ltd.
On 14 July 2016, the Indian Ministry of Finance issued the Customs Notification imposing a definitive anti-dumping duty on above products from Indonesia and Vietnam (Notification No. 34/2016-Customs (ADD), 14.07.2016). The amount of duty imposed on imports originating in or exported from Indonesia is between USD 14.71 and 64.35 per cubic meter depending on the company. The amount of duty imposed on imports originating in or exported from Vietnam is between USD 14.84 and 63.99 per cubic meter depending on the company. This definitive duty is effective for a period of five years.
On 7 June 2021, the Indian Directorate General of Trade Remedies announced the initiation of a sunset review of the definitive duty imposed on imports of the subject good from Vietman. This follows the application lodged by M/s Greenply Industries Ltd, Greenpanel Industries Limited and Rushil Decor Limited.
On 13 September 2021, the Indian authorities terminated the antidumping investigation on imports of the subject good from Vietnam, without the imposition of duties. The termination follows the applicants' withdrawal of their petition on 1 September 2021. The duty was terminated on 13 September 2021.
