Malaysia: Reduction in the export tax on crude palm oil

On 12 October 2012 , the Malaysian government decided to decrease the CPO (crude palm oil) export tax from 23% to 4.5% - 8.5%. This is mainly a reaction to the Indonesian export tax reduction in 2011.

On 25 August 2011, Indonesia decided to lower the export tax on palm oil. The maximum export tax will decrease from 25% to 22.5% and even 13% in the case of refined palm products. This measure came into force on 1 October 2011.
