Uganda: Preference for local suppliers in proposed oil law

Description

The current version of the Petroleum (Exploration, Development, Production and Value Addition) Act 2010, debated in the Ugandan parliament, contains a local input requirement for petroleum firms. The act seeks to give priority to citizens of the country and registered firms owned by Ugandans in the provision of goods and services. 
 
Also implied by the current verion, the government will be able to require the oil firms to give it a list of its contractors and subcontractors at the end of each calendar year.
