Mexico: Elimination of MFN import duties applicable to certain vegetable oils.
Description
On December 16, 2008, the Mexican Ministry of Economy published a decree that unilaterally eliminates the Most Favored Nation (MFN) import duties applicable to certain vegetable oils classified under 24 tariff codes of the Mexican Harmonized System. This elimination took place in two stages, as follows:
· December 17, 2008 to January 14, 2009.
· January 15 to February 13, 2009.
In accordance with the Decree, as of February 14, 2009, imports of vegetable oils classified under the following tariff codes of the Mexican Harmonized System benefit from MFN duty-free treatment: 1507.10.01, 1507.90.99, 1509.10.01, 1509.10.99. 1509.90.01, 1509.90.02, 1509.90.99, 1511.10.01, 1511.90.99, 1512.11.01, 1512.19.99, 1512.21.01, 1512.29.99, 1513.11.01, 1513.19.99, 1513.21.01, 1513.29.99, 1514.11.01, 1514.19.99, 1514.91.01, 1514.99.99, 1515.30.01, 1516.20.01 and 1518.00.01.
Before the implementation of the unilateral elimination of duties, these merchandises were subject to 10% or 20% MFN import duties.
