Mercosur: temporary increase in tariffs on textiles
Description
By decision 26/09 of the Consejo del Mercado Común, the Mercosur countries have adopted temporary higher import tariffs on a range of textile products.
In total, trade on 157 different tariff lines will be subject to an import tariff of 26 percent, up from 18 percent. The higher tariff will be in place from 31 January 2010.
The Mercosur members Paraguay and Uruguay were given a waiver on the stated measure.
