Japan: Funding of Peruvian purchases of Japanese exports
Description
On 9 December 2009 the Japan Bank of International Cooperation (JBIC) extended two export credit lines, worth 3 billion yen and 30 million USD respectively, to the Banco de Credito del Peru. According to the relevant press release "...this agreement will finance Peruvian importers to facilitate the import of machinery, equipment and servies from Japanese firms." The press release notes that these credit lines could finance purchases of digital broadcast equipment from Japan, now that Peru has adopted the broadcasting standard ISDB-T that was developed in Japan.
An almost identical measure can be found in this database relating to Japanese export credit lines extended to Chile.
